Education and early career

Conor Canny is a passionate and dedicated strength and conditioning coach with a strong focus on athletic performance, injury risk reduction and strength & conditioning for overall health and longevity. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Sports Science and Strength & Conditioning from TUS Thurles.

Conor has gained extensive experience in a relatively short period of time working with athletes and teams from underage to senior level across multiple sports, including Gaelic football, hurling, rugby and soccer. He currently serves at the Head of Strength & Conditioning for the Mayo GAA U20 football team, where he plays a key role in preparing athletes for high-level competition. 

Coaching Philosophy

Conor's coaching philosophy is centred around long-term development, emphasising the importance of structured, progressive, and individualised training. He believes in creating an environment where people can maximise their potential through scientifically backed training methods, appropriate recovery strategies, and a strong emphasis on injury risk reduction to ensure long-term health and sustainability in life and sport. 
He prioritises the development of a strong mentality by instilling discipline, accountability and confidence in athletes and clients.
Conor is committed to continuous learning, staying at the forefront of the latest advancements in sports science and performance training, and refining his coaching methods to provide the best possible training environment for his athletes and clients. His vision is to bridge the gap between science and performance, ensuring that every person he works with has the tools and support needed to succeed.
